Sorry to disappoint you but this isn’t the ‘old’ Yankee Stadium. This is the renovated stadium when the original was closed after the 1973 season and reopened for the 1976 season. The Yankees played in Shea Stadium for the 74 and 75 seasons.

That is not the "old Yankee Stadium." Okay--it is on the original site, but it is the stadium that was REBUILT in the 1970s. Completely different vibe.

So this tour was conducted on November 5th, 1991. Just think, by the time this video reached its 5th anniversary, we Yankees fans got to call the team "World Champions!"❤

I used to live in the west Bronx as a child. .My first memories were the little 1 bedroom walk i' at the end of Morris Ave where it turns and ends at Jerome Ave. When I was older we lived over in University Heights. In my wanderings as a child I discovered a neat little coffee shack On east side of Sedgewick Ave. between two apartment Buildings on a scrap of land just south of Fordham Road . The building looked real old. There was a big sign over the counter that this was one of Poe's favorite spots. It seemed a bit far from his cottage but now that I know his wife was buried near there in makes sense. .Nice to see the park and the tours when I went in the service back in 68 things were a bit rough around the park at night.

Wow, 6 years and I am the first comment. It is too bad this talk was so badly recorded, but so great that it was. I have never seen someone talk about redlining in my hometown of the Bronx so authoritatively for the public. I found it fascinating, explaining so much about three generations of my Puerto Rican family living there. Thank you!

I toured the stadium on my own when I bought a ticket. I just remained silent when security and staff asked what I was doing in a secured area and kept walking past them to wherever the heck I wanted. Good times.

Nice video, very informative. But the background music gets a bit too full of itself. It was loud, almost obnoxious, and 11 minutes in, really obscures the speakers.

Loved this documentary, Poe is one of my most favourite writers, I’m alway sad that he had such a tragic life & death.

Went on the tour in 2003. Loved it!!! I made sure to stand in the spot at the fence where Chambliss hit the pennant winning HR in 1976. It's impossible to understand how big the field is until you stand on it and look around!!!

Is there a creative reason for having the narration and music at the same volume? If the purpose was to make it difficult to understand what's being said, you can give yourselves a pat on the back. Mission accomplished! 👏

I was born and raised in The Bronx, and I never knew any of this. I was actually born at Bruckner Boulevard and Southern Boulevard, at the old Lincoln Hospital. Thank you so much!

I LOVEEEEE that I found this video! Born and bred in the Bronx! I played by this home all the time as a little girl. I lived near the park. I think the Bronx is SO underrated. The land, geologically speaking: is beautiful. Growing up there, you would hear so many awful things,(especially from people who didnt live in the Bronx) basically putting the Bronx down in some demeaning levels. I will never forget it is the people (humans) that turn things into something negative and that has nothing to do with the actual beauty of the Land of the Bronx. Bronx has many wonderful attractions and Poe Park and his home is one of them. Thank you so much for sharing this! Cheers! xx

You see that hill there at 2:01 my cousin had bought a cheap Yugo car we were coming from up up traveling towards that hill right there and there was sewer that kinda stuck out so my cousin didn’t slow down and he hit the sewer cover and it ripped his muffler off and as I look back his muffler went rolling down that hill

It reached the status of the Roman Coliseum. If I had the money, I would knock down the new one and rebuild the old one.

Im a big red sox fan from boston but i know we would not have won game 4 of the alds this year if they still had the old stadium
